A Case of Cysticercosis Associated with Meningoencephalitic Manifestations

Abstract

|
|
A case of cysticercosis of subcutaneous tissue and brain associated with meningoencephalitic manifestations in 48 year old Korean male was reported. .
The presenting symptoms were severd headache and dizziness for 15 days. On physical examination, multiple small subcutaneous nodules on the chest, abdomen and extremities and signs of meningeal irritation were observed.
Cerebrospinal pressure was 250 mm H2O, the fluid contained protein 49 mg%, sugar 54 mg%, white cell 322/cubic mm(neutrophil 40%, lymphocyte 60%). The patient could ibe discharged on the 31st hospital day with conservative therapy, but 5 months later he returned to the hospital because of same episodes of severe headache and was dischargedd on the 15th hospital day.
